Once there is a scar on the surface, the protective film will fall off, but the surrounding water and oxygen will regenerate it and maintain corrosion resistance, so that the surface of the stainless steel maintains its own repair. force. The steel has a tempered color when it is quenched at a low temperature for a short time, and the thickness of this oxide scale is 100~200um, that is to say, the passivation film is about 1/100 of its thickness, and it can be seen from different angles. Different colors of fire color, oxide skin has its own color, light can pass through. When the oxide scale is thin, the light reflected at the interface between the oxide scale and the steel can also reach human eyes. The color (interference color) in which this light interferes with the light reflected from the outermost surface of the oxide scale can be seen, depending on the viewing angle. The distance through the oxide scale is different, so the interference color is also different. Due to the different viewing angles, the tempered color is also different, which is the effect of interference.

In addition, when the oxide scale is as thin as the passivation film, no interference occurs, and the metallic luster of the stainless steel itself can be seen. In this way, when the passivation film is very thin and has self-repairing power, the stainless steel shows excellent metallic luster and can be maintained for a long time. Therefore, it is used in the natural state of steel.
